quantum love…

My focus has very much shifted of late. From the steady tidal wave of humanity destroying humanity, at many levels, not just governmental or big finance or the military industrial complex or the sinister, harrowingly powerful religious maniacs, but also on a level closer to our own lives, where the guided or merely trickle down effect of such horrid megalomaniacs at large expresses itself in how we treat each other and regard the earth and life itself beyond the narrow confines we are herded into believing is all that we should notice…indeed, my focus has shifted very much towards Nature. More nourishment can come from time spent in the wilderness than through attempting to maintain a keen vigil on The Horror, for if I can be nourished, then I beam out that vitality towards others, and some good may be done. And as my heart sings with joy after my latest embrace of tiger quolls and the forest, my mind becomes keen on delving into what seems from afar too complicated and likely of no consequence, yet upon closer inspection…astounding.

Quantum Entanglement is my first stop, for there is possible beauty to come with the wonder. This is a theory which old man Einstein was not just wary of embracing, but openly dismissive towards. It is the idea that two particles are connected even when separated by massive distances. They are essentially One. In two places at once. As for dear Albert, I believe it was the suggestion that two particles could communicate or behave as if they were clearly connected, beyond the speed of light which irked. A wretched taskmaster to the end…

I will try to explain further, though a youtube video would likely offer a more palatable outline.

Let us say we have a particle (we are made of fundamental particles), an electron which is entangled with another electron. One of them is placed on the moon, the other in Melbourne, here on my table in the garden.  They spin or shift between colours, when one is red, the other is blue and vice versa, at any point we are to measure them. Now without any obvious method of communication, and well beyond the speed of light – for the effect is instantaneous, every damn time I measure the electron on my table and find it blue, its entangled electron partner on the moon is measured at exactly the same time as red. They are as one, in two places at once. This theory has now been proven, leaving Einstein rattling in his tomb no doubt!

I am interested in whether entangled particles have a tendency to be happier, more at peace, more resilient to the interference abounding everywhere when close. If they are, more settled, more powerful or even more lively, when closer to their entangled partners, perhaps this explains true love…which seems at odds with rational measures (absent of the quantum physics focus) and nonsensical to many. Yet they fit. Two humans, for example, are simply drawn to each other instantly, absent of any logical explanation for the magnetism, which leads to the idea of some force wanting entangled particles to be close to each other, to find that peace and/or liveliness, even happiness. It also gives some weight to the idea of true love proving at odds with all other measures, for irrationality is not enough to explain the magic force which makes two people, who on their outline and behaviour and colours would otherwise seem ill suited, come together as one and plumb depths of existence and Oneness which would otherwise be impossible. They could not find such depth, such connection, with any other but each other. A state which makes every atom of our being, every thought, feeling, sensation, especially when shared, seem blissfully Right. The sound of their voice is music to your heart. Their eyes are full moons to your ever high tides. Their mere existence in any way connected to you nourishes, inspires, drenches you with gilded waters of serenity…

I suspect we can find entanglement and similar sensations through various paths of spiritual teaching and psychedelics, which bring us closer to the shared essence which runs like rivers through our own being and connects us to all Life, whether other humans, the wind, the snow, the squeal howl of a wolf cub, the full moon and beyond, the cosmos itself.

Interference can spoil and confuse this connection of proximity and happiness of the entangled particles that were always meant to be together, distance can appear, yet regardless, they remain connected as they always were, always are, and always will be, trying to find each other. And would be happier and more at peace as one in closer proximity.

Who can say? Perhaps quantum physics will be the region of study which reveals to us the secrets of our own essence, which we also call heart and soul…as well as explain that timeless adage that opposites attract. For it is possible, that there are particles or things we have not yet discovered in what constitutes a human being and every other life form presently known. There might well be other elements of what we are which enjoy the same precious, bizarre, even magical qualities we see in quantum entanglement, and these might not die with the death of the body. Soul. Moving beyond lifetime after lifetime, seeking out its soulmate, through the ages, always feeling each other, always drawn to each other, yet forced to trundle along willing its way and waiting for the universe to unite into a harmony they were destined to find…at some point in the history of Existence. Whether close or far, they will remain eternally entangled.

It is my belief that there is some form of order amongst the chaos. There is too much that is perfect for me to believe otherwise. It is easy to look at the plight of humanity and find far more agony than bliss, but to look in the wilderness, we see the exact opposite, we find magical harmony not just amongst species but between species and between life forms, insects, fish, mammals, moths, trees, rivers all working together, perhaps unwittingly, or more likely due to a stronger connection to the natural forces that truly govern Life…which seeks balance.
