nas hiphop best tracks

Nas. One of the finest wordsmiths to find the mic.

In these darkest of times, where finding a solid soul is as taxing as hitting the lottery digits in tune with Lady Fuck, I am tending more and more towards music, towards the aural amulets which sooth and enrich my soul, or add fire to the flames of my spirit. And this evening, as my roast is cooking and my hellhound gnaws on his rawhide treat, my remedy for the horror of superficiality, of brainwashed morons, of cowardly weasels masquerading as homosapiens, the remedy, the quick fix, is named NAS.

Nas – NY State of Mind

Nas – Memory Lane

Nas – The world is yours

Nas – Take it in blood

Nas – Nasty

Nas – One Love

Nas – Get Down

Nas is one of a handful of musicians who I can recommend as a true artist. as a man who sticks with uncompromising zeal to his task of producing value, not financial, but on deeper levels, maybe just enough to make you wanna bounce, maybe your spirit rattles, maybe your heart expands and finds common ground with the heart he spits into his verse. His message is often upbeat and street smart, always positive, and rarely sounds anything other than smooooooooooth.

In a world which demands reverence for spastics like 50 cent and Kendrick ‘mong’ Lamar, Nas continues to beat his oars against the tide. And the result, is more often than not, timeless classics…

Nas – Nas Is Like

Nas – Lifes a Bitch

Nas – halftime

I don’t find many humans whom I wish were my friends, my brethren, on the radio, on the screens, on the train, in the workplace…Most people seem like plain scum. Lacking morals I was taught, pondered, and accepted as what seems Right to both my forbears and myself and anyone I can love. It becomes harder as you get older. To find like-spirited and like-hearted souls in the human realm. Friends become strangers. Brothers become enemies. And for what? Is that really that hard to maintain a sense of loyalty? Of brotherly love?

Well, from my own experience, it becomes tough for the many, to maintain honesty with themselves, throwing rage and stubbornness against anything and anyone who appears against the path they have chosen, even when those in opposition, have loved them for many moons…and can ONLY have their best interests at heart. Women, work, kids all come into play as we journey through life. What matters to me, and all of those I love as blood, is loyalty and honesty and transparency. When any of those strident demands are avoided or compromised, the relationship crumbles…which in an odd, but hopefully understandable way, is why I have so much respect for the decreasing by the year beloved brothers and sisters I hold so dear and near, and also, why I show rare deference to NAS. For he is one of those rare folk I wish was my brother. Honest, Open, Loyal to his cause, which is never far removed from my own cause…
