Much excitement preceded the first fixture of any kind since Allegri picked up the reins left by recently departed Antonio Conte. With the internationals involved in the world cup still absent, the squad was rather thin hence the involvement of primavera left back Barlocco and fringe players from the seniors.
Unfortunately the match began badly with our Eccelenza league opponents opening the scoring after 10 minutes with a header from a corner. Thankfully the lion-king himself was on hand to not only equalize but also push us into the lead, Llorente scoring twice before half time. Knocking one in after a smart pull back in the box, then adding to the strike moments later with a smart finish from the edge of the area.
The second half however, turned somewhat sour, with our opponents grabbing not just an equalizer, but also the winner late on!
Liviero, Peryera, Bouy and Coman all had a run-out in the second period.
Hardly what we had hoped for, yet neither anything serious to worry about. We played a kid at LB, a Motta at RB. Three of the midfield starters I expect to be nowhere near the first XI come August and of course, we were lacking Lichsteiner, Isla, Vidal, Chiellini, Bonucci, Barzagli, Evra, Pirlo, Marchisio, Pogba, Morata, Buffon, Asamoah. Those 13 players were clearly missed…Next up on the friendly list are Serie A newcomers Cesena, who may well field recent signings Magnusson and Leali.
Storari, Motta, Sorensen, Ogbonna, Barlocco(Liviero), Padoin, Brown(Pereyra), Pepe, Giovinco, Llorente, Tevez(Coman).
