If I had one wish,
It would be to swim with the fish,
In the big blue ocean,
That’s powered by the earth and the moons’ connected motion.
Leave the city, barefoot on the land,
Make my way down to the soft white sand,
The air becomes fresher as the waves crash,
Attacking the shoreline with a clear white flash.
I shed my clothes and wade in to my knees,
30 seconds needed to adjust to the loss of 20 degrees,
temptation rises from the vast open sea,
I’ve always felt I had some fish blood in me,
So on I dive,
And duly arrive,
In the world without air,
Where no longer do I care,
About the pollution, the crime, the world of humanity,
In the water world my mind instantly gains clarity.
The sea,
I’m sure it’s where I’m meant to be,
As soon as I’m swimming I’m feeling completely free,
The water starts to deepen as the wild world nears,
My mind is filled with excitement, fee of any fears.
I swim a metre off the bottom,
as an underwater forest forms beneath,
Beautiful colours spring out of the rocks,
I’ve reached the coral reef
a rainbow of plants carpet the landscape in a magical, majestic way,
Brighter in some places due to increased absorption of sunray.
The other aquatic creatures treat me as their own,
And welcome me open finned to my new underwater home.
Crabs, urchins, bass and plaice,
Exotic markings differing on each face.
Time passes and my memories of land life fade,
My eyes grow more accustomed to the constant shade.
I’m content in this new environment I have found,
In fact the only thing I miss is musical sound,
But even that I can locate when the dolphins are in the vicinity,
The sea, the fish and me all living in a harmonious trinity
