hidden gems in the mega rough

By tdf, August 29, 2014

Sticking with the hippety-hop routine of the old days I begin this second aural escapade with a track by Common, who has made plenty of decent offerings, but this is surely the finest…

Common – I used to love her

My soul needs soothing and the following feel a righteous remedy:

Pete Rock & C. L. Smooth – They Reminisce Over You

Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth – Take You There (1994) (HD)

No need to soothe the soul now, better to revert to diving into the long grass and delivering the quality finds, previously hidden, and now, presented in all its raw glory…

oldominion – tourettes

Depp puddle dynamics – the scarecrow speaks

Vendetta Kingz – High Science

I was hugely into trance and house before a comrade from university in Manchester, introduced me to Gangstarr. In comparison to the phenomenal poets I found thereafter, Guru’s verse can appear less complex, less florid, less intelligent even, but the fact remains, Guru and Premier together were something truly special and much of their combined output remains to this day and all to come; timeless classics.
