Whilst the senior squad has remained largely untouched, the youth sector has been subject a multitude of changes.

DONIS

18 year old Tasos Donis has moved to Sassuolo on an 18 month loan deal which includes both the option for a permanent purchase set at 4m and a counter-option for us to re-purchase him after for 5m. An odd deal, but one which suggests the boy has talent, as he has been showing regularly for our disjointed primavera. The Greek U19 international also extended his Juve contract until 2018. With Sassuolo renowned and praised for a strong focus on using young and eager to impress talent, the move is a wonderful opportunity for one of our finest youth prospects. Expect him to feature sparingly this term with the 15/16 season make or break.

ZAPPA

 

Whilst on the subject of I Neroverdi…We have picked up on loan Claudio Zappa.

At 17 years of age, Zappa has been winning rave reviews since moving from Albinoleffe to Beira-Mar in Portugal and then last Summer to Sassuolo. He will play in the primavera and if all goes to plan, we will sign him outright in the close season.

LIROLA

Capped at Spain U17 level, Pol Lirola arrives on a loan deal from la liga outfit Espanyol. The youngster broke his way into their B team this season and operates at Right Back. The loan deal comes with a set purchase price of 700k.

FILIPOVIC

Whilst we missed out on Kramaric, who amid interest from Juve and Chelsea ended up at Leicester City, for a staggering 9.5m pounds, we have picked up a potentially useful alternative from the same Rijeka ranks of Croatia. The 17 year old prima punta comes on loan with the right to purchase come June.

TELLO

Andres Tello, 18 year old midfielder of Envigado (Colombia) will arrive at Juve in February. Presently appearing for the Colombia national side in the South America U20 championship, Tello has been compared to Cuadrado, due to his pace and trickery. The joint youngest in the squad, Tello is playing regularly for the national side as well as owning a first team berth at his domestic club Envigado.

RUGANI

Yet to make his first appearance for La Nazionale but already part of the squad, 20 year old Daniele Rugani is enjoying a wonderful debut bow in the top flight. He has played in every serie a fixture for Empoli, and has the outstanding accolade of conceding not even one booking. A central defender playing 21 games for a side expected to struggle and yet to see yellow is a rarity and confirms his maturity and discipline. Over the course of the season to date Rugani has achieved the following ratings-

Passing Accuracy – 90.8%

Aerial Battles won – 2.9 per game

Clearances per game – 7.3

He is strong in the air, ultra composed in the tackle and has demonstrated a maturity which belies his tender age. With interest from Man United, Chelsea and Real Madrid, it is easy to understand why we have recently taken up the option to purchase his remaining 50% registration for 3.5m and signed him to a contract running to 2019. Rugani will remain at Empoli until the Summer, when I expect him to join the Piedmont ranks.

SOUMAH

The burly Guinea striker has moved to Cesena on loan, where whilst first been deployed in the primavera, he may well find himself involved with the relegation battle underway with the senior side.

SARAIVA

Out of nowhere on deadline day came the surprise purchase of 18 year old Gremio defender Filipe Alberto Bernardes Saraiva, 18. (more to follow)

And to finish, I am pleased to report that our towering monster of a front man, Senegalese prima punta, Mbaye Diagne, has worked his way into the first XI at Belgian side Westerlo, after moving there on loan in January, and has two goals from two games…
