Juventus Transfer news and Primavera update

After a week dominated by the departure of Conte, it is welcome news to find the mercato bringing us new recruits to ponder along with our future formation and system under recently installed manager, Massimo Allegri.

Firstly, as many expected, the spaniard Alvaro Morata has arrived from Real Madrid. The 21 year old cost EU20m and the five year deal includes a bothersome buy-back clause for Real to return him to their arms for a EU30m after two years. The fee is connected in some way I have yet to fathom to the amount of games the kid plays for Juve. Having represented Spain at youth levels to much success and shown solid promise for the seniors, Morata adds some much needed power, invention and youthful exuberance to our attack.

There is some talk of the contract details proving somewhat more evenly balanced than first glance suggests, with a caveat included based on the potential for Morata to excel immensely leading to the release clause moving closer to EU100m.

Choosing the Number 9 shirt, the new lad commented…

“I chose Juventus because this is one of the most important clubs in Europe. I will try to help them win more titles. I am really looking forward to working here.

“It is really important for me to feel that the club has faith in me,” added Morata, who scored ten goals in 37 Liga games for Madrid. “Some other clubs wanted me, but I wanted to come here. I know that Serie A is one of the most challenging leagues in Europe but I feel ready for it.”

Good enough at 33 for a place in the french world cup squad, so surely good enough for a season or two at Juve.

Next on the list of incoming transfers appears to be Patrice Evra and Roberto Pereyra.

The Senegalese born frenchman is 33 years old yet brings huge experience to the ranks and finally gives the club a specialist left-back of proven quality. The fee for the likely 2 year deal appears to be around EU2m. Patrice will join up with the squad after finishing his post world cup holiday.

Pererya is an interesting signing. Capable of playing wide or more centralling in the attacking channels, his versatility will surely come in useful for Allegri as he aims to fine-tune an already talented group. The 23 year old Argentine played 43 games for River Plate before moving to Udinese where he has since made 74 appearances.

The transfer is rumoured to be a loan with the option of purchase set around EU12m, likely with several youth players on the Juve roster used in place of hard cash. Sorensen, Donis and Romagna are the names been mentioned. It will be a shame to see Freddy ‘IceMan’ Sorensen finally sold off fully for he has shown great natural ability in the past and I felt he deserved a chance with our seniors after heading out on co-ownership in Serie A. Donis is also an interesting player, who was one of few who excelled last term in the primavera as an seconda punta. Details to follow.
