In what must be regarded as a magnificent coup, Juventus have snapped up PSG youngster Kinsgley Coman on a free transfer from french giants PSG.
The 18 year old attacking midfielder made his debut for PSG early last year as a 16 year old and recently made his debut for the French U21 team scoring in a 6-0 demolition of Luxembourg. He also featured in six of PSG’s Uefa Youth League fixtures on their way to a quarter-final exit to Real Madrid.
Crowned player of the year in the PSG youth teams of 2012 and 2013, the player nicknamed ‘King’ was chased by many teams yet has opted to join the bianconeri.
Quality signing of an exciting player of huge potential.
Also interesting us is his now former team-mate at PSG, another frenchman, 19 year old Adrien Rabiot. His contract expires in June of next year, so negotiations are underway to extend, but with nothing yet concrete, Juve are looking to pounce on the midfielder who made 14 starts for the senior squad last term.
Despite the billions backing the likes of PSG and Man City, the balancing factor of squad size restrictions comes into play at some stage, because they simply cannot purchase and monopolize the market for every single talent. Only 11 make the field and 25 the squad.
From one perspective the mega money poured into youth development of the nouveau-riche outfits offers the kids increased exposure and top class coaching, and huge competition to make the grade at senior level, which could well benefit other teams like ourselves.
There is also the Pogba element to ponder. For an up and coming french player, it surely becomes more enticing to join Juve when citing Paul as an example of talented youth finding an opportunity to impress in the first team.
